About April White

April is a senior editor at Smithsonian Magazine, where she oversees the magazine’s history-focused section, Prologue. She is also the author of numerous historical pieces, including “The Divorce Colony: The Strange Tale of the Socialites who Shaped Modern Marriage on the American Frontier” for Atavist Magazine and JSTOR Daily’s “History Is Served” column about the intersection of food and the past. An experienced researcher, she has collaborated with nonfiction authors on more than a dozen book projects, including New York Times bestseller Close to Shore.

In addition, April has written and co-written a shelf full of cookbooks and urban agriculture books, including Lemonade with Zest; Sweet Sugar, Sultry Spice with pastry chef Malika Ameen; and Apples to Cider with Farnum Hill Cider’s Stephen Woods.
